Paul’s official commissioning as an apostle to the Gentiles included a very specific challenge … “remember the poor” (Galatians 2:9-10). He was quick to confirm that God had already placed that burden on his heart and he was eager to serve the church in that area of need. We believe God is also calling FirstChurch Ministries to answer a new challenge to make a contribution in the area of humanitarian aid in the nation of Cuba, and with your help, we are eager to serve this need.
On our most recent trip it was my privilege to meet Pastor Osmay and Yanet. They oversee a food distribution warehouse in Havana that is helping to feed more than 200 churches of all denominations, representing 98,000 hungry Cuban believers. They also pastor a church at the city dump in Havana which of course is located in the poorest district of the city. FirstChurch will be working closely with these precious servants to coordinate the delivery of a shipping container later this year filled with rice, beans, cooking oil, powdered milk, baby formula and canned meat. This food represents a total of 100,000 additional meals that will feed 40 more churches in the growing Cuba for Christ fellowship of churches.
Please help us remember the poor with this new feeding initiative by making a generous donation this month. You will be helping us meet a critical need in Cuba, especially among the children, the elderly and the unbeliever.
